ROCHELLE – A vehicle fire caused a lane closure on Interstate 39 just north of Illinois Route 38 Monday afternoon.
The vehicle caught fire on Interstate 39 at mile marker 99 southbound just north of town around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. By the time firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames burning in the right lane of the highway.
Firefighters were forced to close the right lane of traffic while working to get the fire under control. After a short time, the fire was extinguished but the interstate remained one-lane while firefighters cleaned the debris and investigated the cause of the fire.
