ROCHELLE — On Thursday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church, the Hub City Cruisers car club made a donation of toys to the Community Action Network for its Shopping Trip program.

The shopping trip took place Thursday evening and served 226 kids with a meal and a Christmas shopping trip to Walmart. The donated toys were also given to children that attended Thursday evening.

"When you have those relationships like we have with the car club, we can count on them to help out every year," CAN Board Treasurer Mike Dale said. "We're happy to have the partnership and it's always been a good one."

Tom Byro of the Hub City Cruisers said his organization has been donating to CAN for so long, that he's unsure which year it started.

"Our car club has helped them out for a number of years and it's always nice to get kids something extra for the holidays," Byro said. "Every year we do it. It's for the children. Our car show raises money and we donate it to a lot of different causes and this is one of the things we always support. Not all of the toys are from the club as a whole. Our members buy toys and donate them for the kids."
