ROCHELLE óRochelle Municipal Utilities customers who have had their water or electric service disconnected for non-payment will be faced with an increase in reconnection fees after City Council approved an amendment Monday evening.
The reconnection fees will increase from $25 for electric and $40 for water to $50 each during business hours. Reconnects after business hours will be based on the actual cost, but not less than $50, due to fluctuations based on the day and amount of time required.
On Jan. 18 the Utility Advisory Board recommended presenting the electric and water reconnection fee increases to the city council after several years at the lesser rates.
RMU Customer Service Supervisor Barbara Bell said the price increase is to recover costs involved. For the complete article see the 02-16-2017 issue.
