ROCHELLE Following through with its plan established at last month's meeting, the Rochelle Elementary School District Board of Education approved the purchase of a new school bus in addition to a trade-in for the vehicle being replaced.

District Superintendent Todd Prusator said the total net cost after the trade-in will be $36,318. Prusator also said that the new bus will be paid for using money from the district's transportation fund.

Wrapping up a rather quiet board meeting, Prusator announced that the district will be implementing an intra-fund loan from the district's working cash fund to the transportation fund. The superintendent said the loan is simply a precautionary measure as the district awaits its annual funding of $252,316 from the state of Illinois.

"We're doing an intra-fund loan because the state hasn't made any of our transportation payments this year," he said. "Our transportation fund is low so we're just going to take the money they owe us in working cash and transfer that to our transportation fund. When we get our money from the state, we'll transfer that money back to our working cash fund."
