A bit of everything vintage

ROCHELLE – Anyone who enjoys collecting vintage or refurbished antiques rejoice, because a new business downtown is bringing old treasures to Rochelle. Cheri Picked Antiques, located at 525 Lincoln Highway opened in early March for the vintage shop, but hosted their official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony last Wednesday.
The business is owned by husband and wife Cheri and Dennis Moyer and started from Cheri’s love for anything vintage.
“I love anything vintage, and if you ever come to my house you will see that. It got to the point where I didn’t really have anything left to do at my house anymore,” added Cheri.
Once her house began to fill up, she continued purchasing items but had nowhere to put them. Eventually Moyer decided to purchase a booth to display and sell some of her collection. During this time, she continued adding to her collection until it became much more than a booth could handle. At this point she realized it was time to start a shop, so they looked around for months before deciding on their current location.

“We started looking for a place to have a shop for the last six months prior to buying it in February. We just fell in love with the building and all of the possibilities that we have here,” added Cheri.
The store offers a large variety of different antiques including anything vintage, old advertisement pieces, new items inspired by vintage pieces and lots of repurposed furniture and collectables. All of the items were acquired through Moyers time traveling.
“I am on the road a lot, so I always find myself having access to a variety of different places. Whether it be an estate sale or an auction, anywhere and everywhere,” said Cheri.
The Moyer’s hope that their business can be a nice place for people to come and shop when they are downtown hitting some other stores. Since they opened in March they have received nothing but positive feedback from the community and fellow businesses.
“Everybody had been super kind to us and the other business owners have been awesome with providing help, sharing Facebook posts and things like that,” said Cheri.
