Annual pet show returning

ROCHELLE — What could very well be the greatest show in Rochelle is returning Tuesday at the Flagg-Rochelle Public Library.
The 57th Annual Pet Show, Tuesday, June 27, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., and all area children participating in the summer library programs are invited to bring their pets.
Library assistant director Connie Avery said the event is one the staff and patrons look forward to, acknowledging she has seen a variety of pets over the years and not just cats and dogs.
‘It is my favorite day all summer long,” Avery said. “We’ve had Ziploc bags with fish, we’ve had birds, turtles, and we’ve had plastic balls with hamsters in them.”

The event is held in June to coincide the 4-H’s dairy month. Members from 4-H serve cookies and milk.
Avery said parents and cameras are welcome. In case of rain or a wet lawn, the event will be held indoors with stuffed animals only.
“Even if you don’t have a pet, you can come and enjoy the show,” Avery added.
Library hours
The Flagg-Rochelle Public Library hours, effective until Aug. 21 is Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration for summer reading programs will be available until July 1.
For more information on these programs and other special events, visit the library at 619 Fourth Ave., Rochelle, or call the library at 815-562-3431.
