ROCHELLE — Over 35 people donated blood at the Rock River Valley Blood Center mobile drive Thursday, held at the Rochelle Masonic Lodge. RRVBC supplies blood to eight area hospitals including Rochelle Community Hospital, relying on donors from six Rock River Valley counties.
“I’ve been donating blood for the last 10 years, usually trying every eight weeks,” said Rochelle resident Vicki Oman.
Earlier this week RRVBC released an urgent call for O Negative blood donors after usage over the Memorial Day holiday depleted the supply completely.
Along with the four donor centers, RRVBC holds many mobile blood drives.
Locally, the RRVBC is conducting two blood drives; Fri., June 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Holcomb State Bank on Rt. 38 in Rochelle and on Mon., July 10 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rochelle Police Dept., 416 N. Sixth Street.
