Appreciates respect for the flag

Posted

Dear Editor,
Recently I was leaving Tilton School shortly before 3 p.m. when two girls raced out the door and stopped at the flagpole.
I noticed they were going to lower the flag. As I watched, I told them to be sure it didn’t touch the ground or it would have to be burned. There was no need to worry – it didn’t.

After one girl had finished folding it into the familiar triangle shape, the other girl tucked in the corners.
It took me back to May 2018 when a military duo folded the flag that was on top of my brother’s coffin the same way.
Thank you, girls, and thanks to whomever taught you respect for the flag.
