ROCHELLE — The grand opening of The Artists’ Garden & Suites was held Friday, according to the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce and City of Rochelle.
The Artists’ Garden & Suites is located at 407 Lincoln Highway, downtown Rochelle. The specialty shop features local artwork and new and slightly used boutique items.
The store will present new avenues for art classes and an inspiring studio space for talented regional and visiting artists. Two newly decorated Airbnb suites compliment the circa 1900 downtown building. Over time, there are plans to add a café and a rooftop experience.
The opening was commemorated by a ceremonial ribbon cutting and street party hosted by Artists’ Garden & Garden Suites owner and artist Teresa Petry. The event featured live music and fare from local restaurants and bakers.
“I couldn’t be more proud to open The Artists’ Garden & Garden Suites near my hometown of Creston and to provide a stage for guest artists to showcase and cultivate their talents,” Petry said. “This opportunity has truly been a dream that my family has nurtured to a reality. I am truly blessed to have such tremendous support.”
The Artists’ Garden is the exclusive Rochelle destination for handmade soaps from the Oregon Soap Shoppe. Soaps are made locally from the finest essential oils, natural ingredients and custom recipes.
“As downtown develops, adding this unique boutique is consistent with our vision of expanding retail and small business opportunities in Rochelle,” Peggy Friday, commercial and retail development coordinator for the City of Rochelle and executive director/CEO of the Rochelle Chamber said. “I appreciate the serene beauty of the space that will become a destination for treasure seekers and those who appreciate art in all its forms.”
For now, the boutique will be open flexible hours to make shopping convenient. For more information visit www.artistsgardenbeyondcanvas.com.
