ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Dinner and Awards Event on May 3 at SALT 251 at the Fairways Public Golf Course.  Entertainment was provided by SoapStone, a local 3-piece band with 3-part harmony and a mix of acoustic and electric material.
More than 110 local government and business leaders came together to celebrate the successes of the Rochelle Chamber and the business community.
The award portion of the evening was sponsored by Quinn’s Jewelry of Downtown Rochelle.
“Quinn’s has always been a proud sponsor of the Chamber Dinner,” said Marvin Quinn. “Shelia and I appreciate our long relationship with the chamber and its persistent efforts to encourage people to shop local and visit downtown merchants often.”
Thirteen businesses or individuals were distinguished for a variety of accomplishments and investments made in 2017.
Chamber Board President Tricia Herrera spoke briefly of the activities of the chamber and introduced the board of directors for 2018-19 – Bruce McKinney (retired, City of Rochelle), Anne-Marie Green (Kishwaukee College), Kari Andrist (Holcomb Bank), Carolyn McBride (SwedishAmerican – A Division of UW Health), Brandon Svela (Central Bank Illinois) and Sarah Thuestad (Rochelle Child Care Center).
“The annual dinner has evolved into a special night,” said Peggy Friday, Chamber Executive Director/CEO. “It is truly an honor to recognize and show appreciation to our member businesses and the truly remarkable individuals who selflessly drive for a better future in Rochelle.”
