Andy Buskohl made plenty of noise with his bat during his junior season with the Rochelle Hub varsity baseball team, crushing three home runs and totaling 19 RBIs with a .365 average. The 6-foot-4 right-hander earned Interstate 8 All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition for his efforts last season, and he’ll look to build on those numbers as a senior this coming season.

Buskohl will also continue his baseball career at the college level after recently announcing his decision to attend Carroll University. Buskohl, who has pitched and played third base for the Hubs, said he plans to study marketing in hopes of pursuing a career in professional sports.

“I chose Carroll University because of the resources I’d have as a student-athlete and a baseball player,” Buskohl said. “I thought Carroll University would be a good fit for me. I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play the greatest game ever for four more years and I’m looking forward to helping build a winning culture. I’m looking forward to competing for a starting spot and I’ll bring a winning attitude and a passion for the game to my team every day.”

Buskohl has spent four years with the Rochelle Hub baseball program and two years with the basketball program. Buskohl’s junior highlights included a five-RBI performance in the IHSA 3A Regional Semifinals against Dixon that included a towering three-run homer in extra innings. Buskohl will be one of the leading returners for the varsity baseball team this coming season.

“I appreciate everything that Andy has done for the baseball program and I’m excited that he will continue to play baseball in college,” head coach Jarrod Reynolds said. “Andy’s a hard worker as well as a good baseball player and student. I’m excited to watch him play this year.”
