ASHTON — Benford "Doug" Pittman age 85 of Ashton passed away on Wed. May 24, 2023 at Generations at Neighbors in Byron, IL. He was born on June 9, 1937 in Green County Arkansas the son of James and Mildra (Forkum) Pittman. Doug worked for Dekalb Feed for over 40 years prior to his retirement. He married Shirley Buchman on Oct. 20, 1956 in Polar, WI. Doug is preceded in death by his parents children David Pittman, Donna Pittman, grandson Timothy Pittman 2 great grandchildren Quinton Wallace, Haley Pittman and 7 siblings. Doug is survived by his wife Shirley, children Doug (Pam) Pittman Jr. of Jewell IA, Robert (Dawn) Pittman of Ashton, Deb (John) Phelps of Lee Center, Cindy (Brooke) Barlow of Amboy, Dennis (Joyce) Halbmaier of Coushatta LA, 15 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Clyde Pittman, Connie Brewer, Kay (Jack) Duke, and Leon (Deb) Pittman all of Arkansas. Funeral services will be on Monday May 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Ashton Bible Church in Ashton. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center, IL. Visitation will be on Sunday May 28, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Monday May 29, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM at Ashton Bible Church in Ashton.
