CRESTON — Bernadean Kerns, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, 75, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at her home. She was born on July 21, 1943 in Rochelle, the daughter of Henry and Mae (Johnson) Lawson.
Bernadean married Jack Dean Kerns on Dec. 22, 1960 at the Baptist Church in Creston. She worked at GTE in Genoa for over 28 years prior to retiring. Bernadean enjoyed sewing, fishing and camping and loved spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack Kerns of Creston; three children, Teresa Kuehl of Rochelle, Sandra (Raymond) Hott of Creston, and Michael (Amy) Kerns of Creston; nine grandchildren, Erica (Jeremy) Sachs and Robby Kuehl, Justin, Kendra, Kylee and Jacklynn Muraira, and Travis, Abby and Ashley Kerns; two great-grandchildren, Kendall and Halle Sachs; brother, Robert (Mary Jane) Lawson of Corpus Christi, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle, with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
