LINDENWOOD — Bernice P. Holtman, 90, formerly of Lindenwood, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 in Mountain Home, Ark. She was born on Aug. 8, 1927 in Hammon, Okla., the daughter of Elmer and Gertrude (Allee) Hill.
She married Clarence William “Bud” Holtman on her eighteenth birthday, Aug. 8, 1945; he preceded her on July 29, 2004 after more than 58 years of marriage.
She is also preceded by her parents; two sisters, Ellen Krueger and Elma Lee Earlywine; three brothers, Edward Hill, Douglas Hill and Lyndel Hill; and son-in-law, Bradley Reineck.
Together they farmed for many years in the Lindenwood area, while raising their daughters and did much traveling in their motorhome following retirement. She loved flower and vegetable gardening, her peach trees and made the best peach pie, sewed, knitted, crocheted and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Wren of Conway, S.C. , and Lori (Robert) Bowker of Midway, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jody L. Rutledge, Jeff (Kimberly) Wren, and Justin (Lara) Wren; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Colton Rutledge, Reagan Wren, and Axton and Aubrey Wren.
A Memorial has been established to Lindenwood Union Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec., 29 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle, with Chaplain Dean Parker officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9- 9:50 a.m. Burial will be at Lindenwood Cemetery.
