On Thursday, March 23 at 3:38 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Illinois RT. 64 and Tomahawk Dr. in rural Oregon for a reported car vs. bicyclist accident.

It was learned that a red 2011 Chevy truck driven by Donald Orsted, 69, of Mt. Morris, IL, was west bound when he failed to yield to a bicycle ridden by Matthew Reckmeyer, 61, of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Reckmeyer received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Orsted received a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and will appear in court on April 19 at 9 a.m.

Deputies were assisted by Oregon Fire and Mt. Morris Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.
