ROCHELLE — Blash Bartel Wolf, 95, Rochelle, formerly of Ensign Township, Mich., passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon.


He was born Jan. 4, 1926 in Ensign Township, Mich., the son of Joseph and Pauline (Stimac) Wolf.
He married Gladys Louise Van Effen on July 9, 1955 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Escanaba, Mich. She preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2002.


Blash graduated from Rapid River High School and then proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy aboard the LST 633.


After returning from the war, he attended Michigan State University through the GI Bill and graduated with a degree in animal husbandry.


He spent his entire career as a cattle buyer, mostly for Swift and Co. and Lincoln Meat.


Blash is survived by his children, Annette Plumley, Gina (Jeff) Cochrane, Shelly Roinas, Kelly (Doug) Jarvis and Jeffrey Wolf; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three 3 step-great-grandchildren; five siblings, Victor Wolf, John Wolf, Milan Wolf, Helen Raspor and Mary Pieropon; and numerous nieces and nephews. 


In addition to his parents, Blash is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; granddaughter, Carly Jarvis; great-grandson, Maddox Jarvis; and three brothers, Joseph Wolfe, Peter Wolf and Robert Wolf.
A private family funeral service will be at noon, Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle.


The funeral service will be live streamed on the Unger-Horner Funeral Home Facebook page.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Rochelle with military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard.
