Boys Basketball: Sophomores leads Hubs in loss at Morris
Lewis, Moore each score 18 points in 74-69 defeat Friday evening
MORRIS — Sophomores Carson Lewis and Cayden Moore each finished with 18 points to lead the Rochelle Hub varsity basketball team during Friday evening's Interstate 8 Conference matchup against Morris. Rochelle remained within striking distance throughout the contest, the Hubs were unable to string together one final run down the stretch, falling 74-69.
Lewis recorded seven rebounds, three assists and two steals for Rochelle (6-13, 2-8 Interstate 8), while Moore added six rebounds in the game. Junior Eli Luxton notched a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Hubs, who outrebounded the Redskins 39-34 and outscored Morris 46-36 in the painted area.
Turnovers again proved troublesome for the Hubs, who committed 17 while Morris had only nine. Sophomore Elijah Harley chipped in seven points, six rebounds and two steals for the Hubs, who were down 34-33 at halftime and 58-56 after three quarters.
