Boys Basketball: Streator rallies for win over Rochelle


Dominant second quarter not enough as Hubs fall 75-69

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub varsity basketball team was unable to hold a 13-point halftime advantage over Streator on Saturday, when the Bulldogs outscored the Hubs 47-29 over the final two quarters and handed Rochelle a 75-69 nonconference loss. Sophomore Carson Lewis led the Hubs (6-14, 2-8 Interstate 8) with 19 points and four assists.

Three other Rochelle players reached double figures including juniors Eli Luxton (12 points and six rebounds) and Jack Tracey (11 points) as well as sophomore Cayden Moore (11 points, five rebounds, three assists). Senior Raul Aguirre totaled five points and six rebounds for the Hubs, who were in foul trouble throughout the game, committing 28 in the loss.

Christian Benning sparked the rally for the Bulldogs, who brought Rochelle within two points after three quarters and took the lead in the fourth quarter. Benning scored a game-high 29 points to lead Streator's comeback effort. Both teams had difficulties handling the ball, with Rochelle committing 23 turnovers while the Bulldogs ended with 21 turnovers.
