ROCHELLE — Hub senior Keith Holland led all bowlers with an impressive 657 series score when the Rochelle varsity bowling team hosted Sycamore at T-Byrd Lanes on Tuesday.

Holland threw seven strikes in his opening game, finishing with 235 before following with 168 and a season-best 254 in the final game to throw Rochelle’s high series in a 3,223-3,070 loss against the Spartans. Jeffery Gasso led Sycamore with a 615 series and 246 high game.

Holland was the only bowler to break 200 in the first game, which Sycamore won 1,058-947. Tommy Reboletti fired 196 for the Spartans, while Riley Wittenberg and Jaxson Lang each rolled 186. Sycamore extended its lead in the second game, winning 1,144-925 behind 235 from Wittenberg and 207 from Christian Lanan. Junior Devansh Patel shot 185 for the Hubs.

Rochelle avoided the sweep with a big third game, outscoring the Spartans 1,198-1,021 to score two conference points. Holland’s 254 fueled the Hub victory, while Patel (197), junior Sergio Guevara (194) and sophomore Evin Odle (190) each stepped up for Rochelle. Senior Reese Kirk and junior Hayden Smith added respective scores of 188 and 175 in the final game.

The Hubs will return with a home match against LaSalle-Peru on Wednesday, March 3 at 4 p.m.
