Boys Bowling: Hubs fall in season finale at Geneseo

Powell rolls team-high 572 series in 3,447-2,934

GENESEO — The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team competed in its final head-to-head match of the regular season on Thursday, falling 3,447-2,934 against Geneseo in nonconference action. Rochelle (8-7, 5-3 Interstate 8) will begin the postseason push with the Interstate 8 Conference meet at Mardi Gras Lanes on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Geneseo opened the match with a 1,029-981 victory in the first game, where sophomore Logan Frye rolled a series-best 192 and senior Evin Odle fired a 179 for the Hubs. Gabriel Durnell led the Maple Leafs with a 216 in the first game, while Quinnland Einfieldt followed with a 213.

Geneseo broke the match wide open in the second game, downing Rochelle 1,267-958 behind 247 from Durnell, 223 from Carter Van Opdorp and 211 from Landen Pruett. Freshman Andrew Powell's 191 and junior Jonathan Alanis' 189 were the high scores for the Hubs during the second game.

The Maple Leafs sealed the sweep with a 1,151-995 victory in the third game, where Durnell threw a 243 to finish with a match-best 706 series on the Geneseo side. Powell fired a series-best 211 to end the evening with a team-leading 572 series for the Hubs, while Odle recorded a 181 and Alanis added a 161. Both bowlers finished with 521 series scores.
