Boys Bowling: Hubs knock down Kaneland for conference win


Rochelle outscores Knights 3,196-2,512 on Monday

DEKALB — The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team earned its first Interstate 8 Conference win of the season Monday evening, defeating Kaneland 3,196-2,512 at Mardi Gras Lanes. Freshman Andrew Powell rolled a team-high 648 series for the Hubs (2-3, 1-2 Interstate 8), who will continue their schedule with a nonconference meet against Mendota on Tuesday.

Rochelle cruised over the Knights 961-874 in the first game to take a commanding series lead. The Hubs dominated the second game against Kaneland, winning 1,041-779 behind 246 from Powell and 217 from senior Evin Odle, who fired a 570 series score on Monday. Junior Jonathan Alanis rolled a 180 and freshman Owen Tooley added a 182 in the second game.

Rochelle clinched the three-game conference sweep with a 1,094-859 victory in the third game. Powell fired a 236 to close out the match, while Alanis threw a 212 to end the evening with a 562 series score. Odle carded a 184 and sophomore Logan Frye added a 178 in the third game.
