STERLING — The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team saw its season conclude in the IHSA Sterling Regional at Paone’s Blackhawk Lanes on Saturday. Rochelle finished ninth out of the 14 competing schools, with no individuals advancing to the IHSA Sectional Series next week.
Senior Max Orlikowski led the Hubs with a 1,044 series over six games to take 30th place individually, while sophomore Jonathan Alanis followed with a 1,028 series for 33rd place. Sophomore Christian Thorne (982 series), senior Devansh Patel (978 series) and senior Sergio Guevara (967 series) rounded out the five-bowler varsity lineup for the Hubs on Saturday.
Rochelle rolled 797, 792 and 928 over the first three games to reach the halfway point of the regional with a 2,517 total. The Hubs scored 801, 745 and 936 across the last three games to conclude the tournament with a final score of 4,999. Orlikowski’s 234 in the sixth game and Alanis’ 211 in the first game were Rochelle’s highest individual score of the regional.
