Hub senior Tyler Johnson medaled twice to lead the Rochelle varsity boys bowling team in the Dixon Toughman Tournament at Plum Hollow Lanes on Saturday. Rochelle finished seventh out of 12 teams, with Johnson taking fourth place for High Single Game (258) and High 5-Game Series (1,057). The Hubs totaled 5,016 pins.

DIXON — Hub senior Tyler Johnson medaled twice to lead the Rochelle varsity boys bowling team in the Dixon Toughman Tournament at Plum Hollow Lanes on Saturday. Rochelle finished seventh out of 12 teams, with Johnson taking fourth place for High Single Game (258) and High 5-Game Series (1,057). The Hubs totaled 5,016 pins.

Rochelle recorded 881 pins in the first game, with Johnson rolling 258 and seniors Dallas Driver and Nick Stevens adding 193 and 192, respectively. The Hubs scored 868 pins in the second game behind 202 from Johnson, 215 from Driver and 194 from senior Brady Shank.

Rochelle struggled in the third game, only knocking down 777 pins with Stevens shooting 171 and both Johnson and Shank rolling 170. Johnson’s 225 and Shank’s 223 helped the Hubs scored a team-best 948 pins in the fourth game, with Driver adding 195.

Rochelle wrapped up the team portion of the competition with 818 pins in the fifth and final game. Shank shot 221 to finish 15th individually with 955 pins, while Driver ended with 915 pins to place 22nd. Stevens recorded 823 pins and freshman Devansh Patel added 542 pins. Rochelle rolled five baker games against Sterling, Oregon and Geneseo before facing Sterling and Oregon again, recording scores of 172, 141, 136, 135 and 140.
