Boys Bowling: Rochelle drops conference match at Sycamore

Spartans roll over Hubs 2,953-2,788

DEKALB — The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team faced Sycamore at Mardi Gras Lanes on Tuesday, falling 2,953-2,788 in Interstate 8 Conference action. Rochelle (1-1, 0-1 Interstate 8) will hit the road for a nonconference match against the Sterling Golden Warriors on Thursday.

Sophomore Logan Frye led the Hubs with a 527 series, while senior Evin Odle followed with a 521 series score. Sycamore won the first game 969-865 behind 189 from Evan Borowicz. The Spartans took the second game 1,009-938, with Ryland Voyles rolling 206 and Borowicz shooting 171. Junior Jonathan Alanis led the Hubs with a 191 during the second game.

Rochelle avoided the shutout in the third game, winning 985-975. Odle closed out his series with a 203, while Frye fired a 189 and freshman Andrew Powell rolled a 161 to end the match.
