OTTAWA — Rochelle junior Hayden Smith finished as the high roller for the Hub varsity bowling team Wednesday evening, when Rochelle faced Ottawa at Dettore’s Town Lanes.
Smith fired a team-leading 560 series including a high score of 208 on Wednesday, but the Pirates downed the Hubs 3,292-2,669 and dropped Rochelle to 1-4 overall. Junior Devansh Patel added a 525 series, while Sean Miller led Ottawa with 605 and high scores of 208 and 206. The Hubs will return to action against Sycamore at home on Tuesday, March 2 at 4 p.m.
Ottawa claimed the first game 1,103-848 behind 201 from Ty Trovero. Patel’s 177 and Smith’s 170 were the high scores for Rochelle in the opening game. The Pirates grew their lead in the second game, winning 1,054-862 despite 182 from Smith, 180 from Patel and 170 from senior Keith Holland. Ottawa completed the sweep in the third game, defeating Rochelle 1,085-959.
