Boys Soccer: Casillas nets hat trick against Morris

Sophomore forward leads Rochelle over Redskins 3-1

MORRIS — Sophomore forward Alberto Casillas scored all three goals for the Rochelle Hub varsity soccer team on Wednesday, leading the boys over the Morris Redskins 3-1 in an Interstate 8 Conference showdown. Rochelle (6-2, 3-0 Interstate 8) will travel to face DeKalb on Saturday, Sept. 10 before hosting Kaneland on Monday, Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m.

The Hubs outshot Morris 29-10 and 18-6 in shots on goal while outpacing the Redskins 9-1 in corner kicks. Morris struck first in the match, scoring during the 25th minute to take its first and only lead of the evening. Rochelle found the equalizer in the 30th minute, where junior forward Diego Salazar connected with Casillas for his first goal to tie the score at 1-1.

The Hubs surged ahead early in the second half, with sophomore forward Fernando Diaz assisting Casillas during the 44th minute before sophomore defender Bryan Garcia found Casillas for another Rochelle goal in the 62nd minute. Senior goalkeeper Diego Cincire recorded one save in the win.
