Boys Soccer: Hubs roll for road win over Ottawa

Salazar nets two goals, Casillas collects three assists in 5-3 victory

OTTAWA — Four Rochelle Hub varsity soccer players found the back of the net on Wednesday evening, when the purple and white traveled for a 5-3 road win over Ottawa in Interstate 8 Conference action. Senior Diego Salazar recorded two goals, while junior Alberto Casillas collected three assists along with one goal.

Junior Fernando Diaz and sophomore Heilly Zepeda each added goals for the Hubs (3-4-1, 1-2 Interstate 8) in the victory. Sophomore Antonio Hueramo compiled six saves for the Hubs, who struck first when Zepeda cashed in an assist from Casillas during the second minute of regulation.

Casillas then connected with Diaz for a goal in the 24th minute before completing his hat trick of assists with a pass to Salazar for a goal in the 35th minute. Ottawa evened the score in the second half, scoring three consecutive goals over the 48th, 51st and 59th minutes to tie the match at 3-3.

Rochelle clinched the match over the final minutes of regulation, with Casillas scoring in the 70th minute and Salazar finding the net in the 75th minute. The Hubs will host DeKalb on Saturday at 10 a.m.
