ROCHELLE — Senior Alex Galambos and junior Alexis Quintanilla combined for the lone victory when the Rochelle varsity boys tennis team hosted its nonconference match against Rockford Christian on Monday.
Galambos and Quintanilla took down Alex Toleslei and Chatham McIlroy in two sets at No. 3 doubles, taking a close first set before cruising later in the match to win 7-6(3), 6-3. The Hubs were unable to lock down any other wins, though, falling by a score of 4-1 to drop to 0-6 on the season.
Senior Emilio Nava fell 1-6, 0-6 against Finley Buelte at No. 1 singles, while junior Sean Flanagan was blanked by Trevor Kornfeld 0-6, 0-6 at No. 2 singles. Senior Hector Garcia and freshman Jason Zheng played a tough three-set match with Trevor Beale and Sean Liu at No. 1 doubles, losing 7-5, 3-6, 5-10.
Senior Diego Lopez and junior Gabe Nava also went three sets, falling in a close battle with Matt Yan and Enzo Marcello at No. 2 doubles by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 7-10.
