Boys Tennis: Hubs fall at Belvidere North


Rochelle suffers 7-0 sweep by Blue Thunder

BELVIDERE — The Rochelle varsity boys tennis team faced Belvidere North on the road Tuesday evening, with the Hubs falling by a score of 7-0 in nonconference play to drop to 0-5 on the season.

Rochelle junior Sean Flanagan ground out a tough match against Johnathan Bratter at No. 1 singles, falling by a score of 4-6, 7-6(5), 8-10. Rochelle freshman Jason Zheng took the court at No. 2 singles, taking the first set over Jackson Kohls but losing by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 5-7. At No. 3 singles, Rochelle junior Saul Alanis fell against Adam Belinson 0-6, 0-6.

Rochelle seniors Hector Garcia and Emilio Nava battled Carson Hinterlong and Zane Hathaway at No. 1 doubles, losing 6-7(5), 3-6. Rochelle senior Alex Galambos and junior Gabe Nava faced Josh Sattler and Will Grant at No. 2 doubles, losing 1-6, 3-6.

Rochelle senior Diego Lopez and junior Alexis Quintanilla took Austin Biel and Mark Grant to three sets at No. 3 doubles, falling in a close match 6-3, 1-6, 2-6. At No. 4 doubles, Rochelle seniors Caden Manning and Gage Sullivan lost 3-6, 6-7(3) against Salvatore Galluzzo and Nathan Reyes.
