STERLING — The Rochelle varsity boys tennis team capped off its regular season with a road match against Newman Central Catholic on Thursday. The Hubs fell by a score of 5-0 to enter the postseason 4-19 overall.
Senior Emilio Nava fell 4-6, 2-6 against Jonathan Rhodes at No. 1 singles, while senior Hector Garcia went three sets with Brady Moran at No. 2 singles, losing 4-6, 6-4, 9-11. Seniors Diego Lopez and Caden Manning fell 0-6, 0-6 against Jake Terveer and Isaac Blaney at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Alex Galambos and junior Gabe Nava took two games in their 1-6, 1-6 loss against Kyle Tunink and Tyler Bonnell at No. 2 doubles. Freshmen Peter Forsberg and Jason Zheng fell 1-6, 2-6 against Marvel Zhang and Dean Ellorando and No. 3 doubles.
