ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team nearly earned its first victory of the season Thursday, dropping a 3-2 match against Morris in Interstate 8 Conference play. Rochelle (0-6) will face Freeport this weekend.
Sophomore David Wanner secured a victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Justin Metesh 7-5, 6-4. Junior Alex Gilbert faced Aryan Patel at No. 2 singles, falling 0-6, 3-6.
Junior Peter Forsberg and sophomore Owen Haas teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles, beating Michael Wiechen and Jacob Rudnicki 6-2, 6-2.
Juniors Jason Zheng and Devansh Patel fell 4-6, 0-6 against Jack Hansen and Patrick McPherson at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores John Green and Evin Odle lost 4-6, 1-6 against Mason Kitchell and Jeffrey Bzdill at No. 3 doubles.
