Boys Tennis: Rochelle netters extend win streak to seven

Hubs down Rockford Lutheran 4-1 in nonconference action

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team continued its winning ways on Monday, defeating Rockford Lutheran 4-1 and extending its win streak to seven straight matches. Rochelle (9-1, 4-0 Interstate 8) will host Harlem for a nonconference match on Wednesday.

The Hubs took all three doubles points, with junior Nolan Fonfara and senior Devansh Patel dominating their No. 3 doubles contest against Hayden Schuster and Ezra Maras 6-1, 6-0 for the first point of the match. Junior John Green and senior Peter Forsberg followed with a strong 6-2, 6-1 win over Gregory Julius and Visvai Subramanian at No. 2 doubles before juniors David Wanner and Owen Haas downed Ben Temple and Ruben Lachkar 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. 

Rochelle and Rockford Lutheran split the two singles points on Monday, with senior Jason Zheng cruising over Matthew Fee 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Crusader netter Tyler Brinkmeyer taking down Hub senior Alex Gilbert 6-3, 6-0. Rochelle will host a nonconference match against Sterling on Friday before hosting the Hub Varsity Invitational on Saturday.
