The Hubs (2-4) will compete on the road against Sandwich and Seneca on Tuesday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.

SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Hub track and field team finished second in its Interstate 8 Conference meet against Morris and Sycamore on Tuesday. Sycamore won the meet with 125 points, while Rochelle placed second with 35 and Morris took third with 23. The Hubs (2-4) will compete on the road against Sandwich and Seneca on Tuesday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.
Junior Zach Sanford shined in the throwing events, winning the discus with a personal-best throw of 36.09 meters before taking third in the shot put with a mark of 12.71 meters. Senior Trevor Goodwin won the triple jump with a leap of 12.88 meters, while junior Ryan Simmons stepped up in the field as well, winning the high jump with a clearance of 1.54 meters and finishing second in the long jump with a leap of 5.44 meters, both personal records.
Junior Michael Ramsey led Rochelle in the sprints, placing fourth in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12.04 seconds before finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.44 seconds. Freshman Caleb Wyssbrod raced well in the 400-meter dash, taking fifth with a time of 59.52 seconds. Junior Josue Huerta was the top runner for the Hubs in the distance events, placing sixth in the 800-meter run (2:32.82) and fifth in the 1600-meter run (5:54.09).
Goodwin set a personal record in the 110-meter hurdles, taking second with a time of 16.71. Freshman Luis Pizano paced Rochelle in the 3200-meter run, finishing fifth in 13:18.19. Rochelle placed third in the 400-meter relay (50.33), second in the 800-meter relay (1:45.81), third in the 1600-meter relay (4:11.69) and third in the 3200-meter relay (10:33.99).
