ROCHELLE — The 43rd Annual Hub Relays took place at Rochelle Township High School this past weekend, with eight varsity track and field teams including Rochelle battling for the championship. The Hubs finished in the top half of the field, placing third out of eight teams.
Junior Aaron Vondergathen placed sixth in the pole vault with a personal record of 11 feet. Junior Ben Hickey and senior Mason DeLille finished second and third in the high jump with clearances of 5-8 and 5-6, respectively. DeLille took fifth in the long jump (18-1 ½) and second in the triple jump (41 feet). Sophomore Trevor Goodwin won the triple jump with a mark of 41-6 and Goodwin placed third in the long jump with a mark of 18-8.
Rochelle’s 1600-meter relay team (Connor Lenkaitis, Greg Ricketts, Ben Hickey and Gyvanziel Quinonez) took second with a time of 3:39.82. The Hubs took second in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay (Dallas List, Greg Ricketts, Parker Hale and Tucker Louis) with a time of 4:12.78. Rochelle finished third in both the 6400-meter relay (Santi Cordoba, Tucker Louis, Josue Huerta and Jessee Infante) with a time of 21:15.97 and the 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay (Ryan Friestad, Jacob Eul, Trevor Goodwin and Dylan Finkboner) with a time of 1:12.45.
The Hubs placed fourth in the 3200-meter relay (Connor Lenkaitis, Jessee Infante, Tucker Louis and Gyvanziel Quinonez) with a time of 9:07.28 and the 4000-meter distance medley relay (Ben Hickey, Connor Lenkaitis, Jessee Infante and Gyvanziel Quinonez) with a time of 13:11.48. Infante took third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:47.54 and Finkboner finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.74 seconds.
