DEKALB — The Hubs varsity bowling team defeated DeKalb at Rochelle’s T-Byrd Lanes earlier this season, and behind a team-high 704 series from senior Mark Bratko on Tuesday, the purple and white downed the Barbs for a second time, this time at DeKalb’s Mardi Gras Lanes.
Rochelle took the first game 1,220-1,147, with Bratko rolling 268 and junior Dallas Driver adding 229 to lift the Hubs to victory. Jacob Hanson’s 216 and Nicklaus Eberly’s 226 headlined DeKalb’s opening efforts.
The Barbs bounced back in the second game with a 1,223-1,201 win to even up the match behind Hanson’s 267 and Dylan Kersten’s 216. Driver shot 245 for the Hubs, while Bratko totaled 228 and junior Brady Shank bowled 234.
Rochelle overpowered DeKalb 1,191-1,014 in the third game to seal the victory, with junior Tyler Johnson rolling a match-high 275 and Bratko adding 208. Johnson finished with a 633 series, while Driver recorded 647 for the Hubs, who improved to 3-7 overall with the win.
