ROCHELLE – Every year in October, additional bricks in the Rochelle Veterans War Memorial are engraved in time for Veterans Day.
The engraver requires a minimum of 30 bricks to make it economical for his company to engrave the bricks on-site at the memorial. For those interested in having a brick engraved on behalf of a veteran, the deadline has been extended to Oct. 1 for this year.
The cost for a brick is $75 and order forms can be obtained at the Rochelle VFW or on the City of Rochelle website. Payment by check or money order is required and can be made at the VFW or sent to P.O. Box 344, Rochelle, IL 61068.
The Rochelle Rotary Club has graciously offered financial assistance to those who would like to purchase a brick but cannot afford to do so. If one desires a brick and wishes to take advantage of this offer, simply fill out the order form, present it to the VFW and a person will be in contact with you regarding assistance.
