California man arrested on charges of cannabis trafficking

Arthur M. Granados, 27, of Beaumont, Calif., was stopped for speeding on Oct. 14 at 9:20 a.m. on Interstate 88 eastbound at milepost 26.
A consent search of the vehicle after the stop lead to the discovery of 58 pounds of cannabis in a suitcase in the trunk of the 2017 Chrysler sedan.
Granados was arrested for cannabis trafficking and cited for speeding. He claimed to be traveling from California to Aurora. He was transported to the Whiteside County Jail and lodged.
Cannabis trafficking is a Class X felony punishable by a mandatory minimum of 12 years in prison but not more than 60 years and could be fined up to $400,000.
