Calvin Jerry Messer

ASHTON — Calvin Jerry Messer, 15, of Ashton was unexpectedly taken from us on June 2. Calvin was born Aug. 25, 2006 in Dixon to Stacey (Kelley) and Michael Messer. Our Calvin had a zest for life! From the moment Calvin was born, we knew he was destined for great things and definitely did not disappoint.

Calvin loved all things outdoors, but had a special passion for football, basketball and baseball. He was not only passionate about playing sports, but also an avid sports card collector. Calvin loved to sing; anything from oldies, country, rap, he loved music. He excelled at school, had a contagious smile and always put his friends first! He loved his older brothers and sister; and adored Lane, his best friend and younger brother. Calvin was an active member of the Ashton United Methodist Church. He was always willing to help at church and do whatever he was called to do! When something needed to be done, Calvin was there. He was so full of life and exuded love for it. He made everyone around him feel important. He especially took pride in being part of his nieces’ and nephews’ lives.

His loving family that misses him dearly include his parents Mike and Stacey Messer, brother Lane at home, brother Ryan (Melissa) Messer of Ashton; brother Zach Messer of Clearwater, Florida; sister Brooke (Jeff) Monson of Byron; Grandparents Russell and Pam Kelley, Lynn Messer. Great grandparents Jean (Paul) Vest and Jimmie Jordan. Special nieces and nephews Parker, Rhett, Landric, Josie, Nolan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Calvin was preceded in death by his grandfather Jerry Messer.

Visitation will be at the AFC High School from 2-8 p.m. on June 7. Funeral services will be held on June 8 at 10 a.m. at the Ashton United Methodist Church with Pastor Jan Shaulis officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashton Cemetery. A memorial fund is to be established in Calvin’s name. Visit www.ungerhorner.com for online video tribute and to sign the online guest book.
