It could be considered a small investment for a chance to win big, but above all it is helping to support a worthy cause.

ROCHELLE — It could be considered a small investment for a chance to win big, but above all it is helping to support a worthy cause.

Sawicki Motor Company is partnering with Rochelle Township High School Marching Band in their quest to Washington, D.C. by offering a car raffle. The lucky winner walks away with a brand new car — their choice of either a 2018 Chevy Cruze or a 2018 Chevy Trax.

The band has a unique opportunity to participate, representing the state of Illinois, in the “2018 Parade of Heroes — A Monumental Salute to the Veterans,” which will honor those who served during the three pivotal periods in the history of the U.S.: World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of WWII.

Ron Duval, RTHS Band Director, said the car raffle fundraiser will help offset the cost of the band’s trip by a cool $25,000.

Raffle tickets are available for $50 each and the number of raffle tickets sold will be limited to 1,000.

“We are going to be announcing the winner at our Homecoming Game on Sept. 28 at halftime,” Duval said. “This is a great opportunity for anyone to help the band meet their goal and have a chance at winning a new car.”

Mike Myers, General Manager at Sawicki Motor Company, said the trip is a great opportunity for the band members.

“This is awesome they are able to participate…that they are able to go. We are happy to be involved,” Myers said.

The vehicles will be on display at the farmers markets at the Cypress House each Saturday. They will also be displayed on July 4 near Atwood Park, at the Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival, and at the Creston Booster Days.

Raffle tickets can be purchased from any RTHS Marching Band member, at Sawicki Motors, or through emailing Ron Duval at rduval@rthsd212.org.

There are also several other sponsorship opportunities available. For more information, please contact Duval at the email above.
