ROCHELLE — Area emergency personnel were called out to a rural residence on Saturday morning after a car crashed into a home in the 5000 block of South Center Road.
The vehicle caused significant structural damage to the exterior of the home and also caused a natural gas leak. Neighbors in the area were evacuated and Nicor Gas was called to shut of the supply to the home.
Police blocked off Center Road on both sides of the home and a local church was being used as a shelter location for any displaced residents. The gas leak was repaired and the area was cleared for neighbors to return shortly after noon on Saturday.
As of press time there were no details of the cause of the accident or whether anyone was injured.
