Car thefts hit 'Hub City'

Posted

ROCHELLE — A third vehicle theft in the ‘Hub City’ in a week’s time resulted in an arrest early Saturday morning, according to Rochelle Police.
A short time before midnight Friday police received word of a stolen 1999 Chevrolet Suburban from the 200 block of Lincoln Highway. Reportedly, the keys were left inside the unlocked vehicle.

In the early morning hours on March 25, the vehicle was located in Aurora with three juveniles in the car.

The first report of a stolen vehicle was given to police Monday morning, March 20, when owners reported a 2009 Chevrolet stolen from the 300 block of Woolf Court. That vehicle was recovered the same day in Rochelle.
The second stolen vehicle was a 2007 Toyota truck from the 500 block of North 12 Street. As with Friday’s incident, the owner said he believed the keys were left in the vehicle. That vehicle has not yet been located.
Police remind residents not to leave cars unlocked.
No arrests have been made in the first two reported thefts and police continue to investigate the incidents.
