ROCHELLE — The musical “The Last Five Years” will be presented the next two weekends in Rochelle.
The musical won the Drama Desk award and was named one of Time magazines best shows of 2001. The two-person cast traces a five year relationship between two New Yorkers. One person tells their story from the beginning, while the second character tells their story from the end.
The two briefly meet in the middle, at their marriage.
Shows are set for April 12, 13, 19, 20 at 8 p.m. and April 14 and April 20 at 2 p.m. Shows will be in the Palmer Room at Salt 251, located at 531 S. Seventh St. Rochelle.
The show stars Lindsey Lancaster and Michael Hynek as Jamie and Kayla Bellows and Michele McClane as Cathy.
Lancaster and Bellows will be Jamie and Cathy for the April 12 and 13 8 p.m. shows and the April 20 matinee.
Hynek and McClane will team up as Jamie and Cathy for the April 12 matinee and the April 19 and 20 evening shows.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at vcctrochelle.org or at the door the day of performance.
Directing the show are Becca Manning and John Whitaker with Jeanna Mingus as musical director and Abi Mogge as accompanist.
“The Last Five Years” has been described as “an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years.”
