Central School Cougars kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month

It’s time for a fiesta! Central School PTO is hosting a fundraiser Friday afternoon to kick of Hispanic Heritage month.
Volunteers from the PTO and Central School staff will prepare and sell snacks from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15.
“The food is delicious, and we’ll have music playing,” explained principal Justin Adolph. “It will be a fun, quick event!”

Food options include Elotas (Mexican style corn) for $1, Drinks for $1, Fruit Cups for $2 and Chicharrones for $1.
Money used will help the PTO support the teachers and students at Central School. All money raised will stay at Central School. PTO can help cover expenses for field trips and sponsor specific purchases a teacher requests for their classroom.
Hispanic Heritage
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Sept. 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Chile on Sept. 18. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is Oct. 12, falls within the 30-day period.
