Charles W. Barnett

ROCHELLE — Charles W. Barnett, 62, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 12, 2023 at his home. Chuck was born on February 5, 1961 to Charles R. Barnett and Patricia Darleen (Sitzes) Best in Rochelle. He dedicated his life to the family business, Best Welding.
Chuck was a fiercely devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. From Dale Earnhardt to truck shows with his dad, Chuck had a deep appreciation for all things mechanical. He enjoyed finding out how things work and was always excited to learn something new. Chuck loved teasing his sisters and eventually his nieces and nephews had the privilege of experiencing “the love” as well. Above all, he loved his son and granddaughter. He always took great joy in her antics.
In addition to his parents, Charles Barnett and Darleen Best, he is preceded by an infant brother, Dusty Barnett, sister, Karen Barnett and his beloved, Dorris Smith.
Chuck is survived by his son, Mitchell Barnett of Kansas City, MO; four sisters: Julie (Terrence) Mendyk of Plover, WI, Melinda Barnett of Ohio, Nancy (Joel) Russell of Rochelle and Valesia (Jason Bunger) Best of Corland, IL; granddaughter: Posie Barnett and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. A private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Askew officiating. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
