While the skies in and around Rochelle covered sunlight today and hampered viewing of the total eclipse, Rochelle Fire Chief Dave Sawlsville got a great "view" while participating in an EMS group at Carbondale.

With thousands of visitors expected to converge on Carbondale over the weekend and today in particular during the total solar eclipse, Sawlsville traveled to the southern Illinois hot spot to provide back-up EMS services.
The veteran fire department leader left for Carbondale on Friday morning and was part of a state organized team that set up a center just outside the Southern Illinois University football stadium.
