ROCHELLE — Area residents are invited to come out for some exercise and fresh air during a Cinco de Mayo 5K event which will also help support a local organization.
Join HOPE of Ogle County, LULAC, and the City of Rochelle to move for a great cause on Saturday, May 5 at 1 p.m. for the fourth annual CincoK 5K Run/Walk.
The starting point for the 5K run/walk is at the Four Sisters bike Path off Parkview Drive by the First Presbyterian Church. Check-in starts at 12 p.m., 5K at 1 p.m.
All proceeds go to the local domestic violence agency and shelter that serve Ogle and Lee counties. HOPE of Ogle County provided shelter, counseling services, court advocacy, Latina advocacy, and transitional housing to 492 adults and children last year.
Ruth Carter, Executive Director at HOPE of Ogle County, said the website www.raceentry.com allows for individuals as well as teams to register.
