ROCHELLE — City of Rochelle staff presented a check Monday night to the Rochelle Area Community Foundation in the amount of $8,538.70 as a result of recent fundraising efforts.
As part of an incentive, city manager Jeff Fiegenschuh said if city staff exceeded their goal of $8,000 he would wear a Cubs jersey to the city council meeting. Fiegenschuh is an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Staff raised the money primarily through payroll deductions and employee pledges. Fiegenschuh also volunteered for the dunk tank to raise money at a summer employee luncheon.
He credited human resource manager Nancy Bingham for the idea to raise money for the local foundation that benefits the Rochelle area community.
“Nancy worked with the staff to promote and exceed the goal and made it a lot of fun for a lot of people,” Fiegenschuh said. “We can build on this success…this was probably the most fun fundraising campaign I’ve been a part of.”
