College’s 50th anniversary closing reception Tuesday

MALTA — Kishwaukee College will hold the 50th anniversary closing reception on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Kishwaukee College Art Gallery on campus.
The event will bring to close a yearlong celebration of the college’s 50th Anniversary. The event will be held in conjunction with the closing reception of Faces of Kish, a gallery show featuring portraits of the Kishwaukee College community created by Miles Halpern, assistant professor of art at Kishwaukee College.

“I wanted to do something to bring people together, show their worth, our individuality and commonality. I also wanted to bring people together who were not typically involved with the arts and help connect them to art,” said Halpern. Faces of Kish features over 170 portraits of students, staff, alumni, retirees, and friends of the college.
The event will feature the Faces of Kish art exhibition, appetizers, and a short program including closing the 50th anniversary time capsule. The time capsule will be filled with student, faculty, and staff thoughts on life in 2018 or what Kishwaukee will be like in 25 years. The capsule will remain closed until the college’s 75th anniversary in 2043.
The 50th anniversary closing reception is free and open to the public. Visitors are asked to park in the B parking lot and enter through door No. 58.
