County once again will hold electronic recycling events in 2018

OREGON – Once again in 2018, the Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department will partner with Dynamic Recycling, Inc. from Onalaska, Wisconsin to collect and recycle electronic items from Ogle County residents.  
The first collection for 2018 will be on Friday, Jan. 26.
Collections in 2018 will occur monthly, but not necessarily on the last Friday of each month. The dates for the 2018 collections are as follows: Jan. 26, Feb. 23, March 23, April 27, June 1, June 29, July 27, Aug. 24, Sept. 28, Oct. 26, and Nov. 30. There will be no December collection event in 2018.

Saturday, April 14 and Sept. 15, from 8 a.m.-noon are the dates for the people that cannot make the Friday events.
If an event must be cancelled due to inclement weather it will be posted on their Facebook page (Ogle County Solid Waste Management Dept.) and website, they will also try to reach radio and TV stations.
Collections occur at the County Annex Building at 909 Pines Road in Oregon, just west of IL Route 2. Collection times are from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and county staff and volunteers will assist in unloading and sorting your electronics. A brief survey will be taken and proof of Ogle County residency is required (drivers’ license, voter ID card, recent utility bill, etc.)  Please have identification available for survey.
Items accepted at these events include all televisions, DVD/VCR’s, all computer hardware, desktop printers, FAX machines, copiers, computer monitors, laptops, tablets, cell phones, computer cables, video game hardware, satellite receivers, digital clocks/radios, stereo equipment, speakers, phone systems, calculators, holiday light strands, printer ink cartridges, CFL bulbs, rechargeable batteries, and microwave ovens ($5 per microwave oven). There is a limit of 10 large items (TV’s, monitors, computers, microwaves) per vehicle per month.
Items that are not accepted include white goods (appliances), coffee makers, fryers/grills, blenders, bread makers, light fixtures, fans, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, heaters, personal hygiene products (razors, hairdryers, etc.), power/yard tools, exercise equipment, smoke detectors, large copy machines, business electronics, scrapped or de-manufactured electronics, or Styrofoam, and other packaging materials from electronic goods.

Since this program is for Ogle County only, residents of other counties should contact their county or municipal government office to inquire about local recycling options.
