County recycling and food donation event Oct. 29

OREGON — The second opportunity for residential electronics recycling and food donations will be taking place Friday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the County Annex Building located at 909 Pines Rd. in Oregon.

A free permit is required to attend and permits can be obtained by calling 815-732-4020 or via email at solidwaste@ogleocunty.org. Please provide your name, address and phone number in your email. Permits will be available up until noon on Oct. 27. Please limit one permit per household, permits are valid for anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29.

Accepted items include all televisions and computer monitors, all computers, computer hardware and cables, back-up power supply units, laptops, tablets, cell phones, DVD/VCR’s, cable and satellite receivers, printers, FAX machines, scanners, copiers, stereo equipment, landline phone systems, video gaming equipment, digital clocks, radios, boom boxes, cameras, shredders, holiday lights, extension cords, rechargeable batteries, printer cartridges and CFL bulbs. Microwave ovens are accepted for a charge of $5 per unit. 

If you can bring in a giant television, please consider also bringing in some non-perishable food items as well. All food collected will be distributed to local food pantries here in Ogle County.  Be sure the food items are sealed and not expired. Other items accepted include personal care items, laundry supplies and home cleaning supplies. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
